The Jefferson James Contemporary Dance Theater Series

A season of opposites featuring special west coast guests

Welcome to the 2024-2025 season, our 53rd since the founding of Contemporary Dance Theater in 1972.

This season, we emphasize the vastness of the Modern and Contemporary Dance genre, calling it a "season of opposites." From nature to nurture, from Belgium to India, from the west coast to the mid-west, from hot to cool: Mutual Dance Theatre and the Jefferson James Contemporary Dance Theater Series' 24-25 season is chock-full of don't-miss moments. We also celebrate sharing west coast dance with you for the first time in over a decade, as well as the largest resident Mutual Dance Theatre company we've had in also over a decade. So jump in, grab your season subscriptions, and see you in October!

DEC 6-14, '24
MUTUAL ARTS CENTER HARTWELL STUDIO

WORLD PREMIERES     MID-WEST     WOMAN-LED     BIPOC-LED

In MDT’s beloved and consistently sold-out studio series, Up-Close in 2024 juxtaposes nature and nurture. Selene is a new world where we witness the building of a moon and its energizing power (Trezon Dancy, InPulse Dance), while if you need me explores how nurture and the balance of reliance vs. independence have profound effects (Ana Hart, Mutual Dance Theatre).
